Hip-hop label Commission Records has entered a new strategic partnership with multi-faceted media company Big Noise, the companies announced on Wednesday (June 12).
Under the terms of the arrangement, Commission co-founder and and CEO Anthony "Ant" Martini will “implement his proven tactics to develop business opportunities for both partners, integrating into a collective culture,” according to a press release. The deal includes equity purchase and funding for marketing, promotion, staff expansion and infrastructure for Commission.
Commission Records’ roster includes MadeinTYO, Lil Dicky, Derez De’Shon, DJ Envy and Powers Pleasant. The company, which Martini co-founded with Doug Neumann, claims over 4 billion streams and multiple gold and platinum certifications.
Big Noise was founded in 2018 by Jon Cohen, entrepreneur and musician Nick Gross and artist/producer John Feldmann. The company combines a record label, publishing division and live events business. Its roster includes Ashley Tisdale, alt-rock band New Politics, U.K. pop group Royls and Gross's band Half the Animal.
“The spirit of Commission has always been about betting on yourself, so it was a natural fit to align with guys like Nick and Jon who truly have skin in the game,” said Martini in a statement. “These artists trust us with their livelihood. I want to go into battle with a team who understands the importance of that because they’ve been there.”
“I’ve known the Commission guys for years and have marveled at the company’s track record of betting early, and correctly, on winning talent,” added Big Noise president of records and publishing Cohen. “Ant is a hardcore A and R man, passionate and committed, a perfect ethos for Big Noise. We’re beyond excited to be partnering with him.”
